Mary Edwards Walker showed patriotism by being brave and taking care of injuries that people endured.She was showing bravery for her country,she was captured by confederate forces after crossing enemy lines to treat wounded civilians and arrested as a spy.
Mary was sent a prisoner of war to Richmond,Virginia until released in a prisoner exchange.She showed valor because she had the courage and bravery to go across the enemy lines as spy to treat other wounded civilians.
