Copy of THANKSGIVING
Transcript of Copy of THANKSGIVING
The Pilgrims went on a ship called the “Mayflower.”
The trip to America was difficult. There were bad storms and the ship was small.
When they arrived to America it was winter, and there was no food or houses.
Many of the pilgrims died from sickness, starvation, and from the cold.
People lived in America already.
The pilgrims called them Indians, and we call them Native Americans.
The Pilgrims could not survive without the Native Americans their first year.
Later, they celebrated together with the Native Americans to give the, thanks.
We call this day Thanksgiving. We celebrate it on the 4th Thursday of November
Christmas shopping starts after Thanksgiving.
This is called "Black Friday."
Some people spend all day and night in by stores
This year is the 90th Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade
This is the biggest and most famous Thanksgiving parade.
Thanksgiving parades are also in cities like Houston, Philadelphia, and Detroit.
The Detroit Lions have a game every Thanksgiving Day since 1934.
And the Dallas Cowboys since 1966.
The native americans helped the Pilgrims.
They showed them how to grow corn and pumpkins.
They helped them to hunt too!

What is the day after Thanksgiving called?
Where did Pilgrims come from?
In England, everyone had to go to the Church of England.
People went to America from England so they could go to a church they liked.
These people were called "Pilgrims".
The best tradition!!!
