THANKSGIVING

The Pilgrims went on a ship called the “Mayflower.”

The trip to America was difficult. There were bad storms and the ship was small.
When they arrived to America it was winter, and there was no food or houses.

Many of the pilgrims died from sickness, starvation, and from the cold.
People lived in America already.

The pilgrims called them Indians, and we call them Native Americans.
The Pilgrims could not survive without the Native Americans their first year.

Later, they celebrated together with the Native Americans to give the, thanks.
We call this day Thanksgiving. We celebrate it on the 4th Thursday of November
Christmas shopping starts after Thanksgiving.

This is called "Black Friday."

Some people spend all day and night in by stores

This year is the 90th Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade

This is the biggest and most famous Thanksgiving parade.

Thanksgiving parades are also in cities like Houston, Philadelphia, and Detroit.
