They felt free.
Zero to Hero Disney's Hercules
This song represents Chapter 7 because Dally, Johnny, and Ponyboy are the last people on earth, especially Dally to become heroes.

This song represents Chapter 8 because Johnny thinks that even if all his bones are broken and he is scared of dying, it was worth it saving those children as in those few moments he felt free... he lived.
How to Save A Life by The Fray
This song represents chapter 9 because this song is about loosing a friend and asking yourself what you could’ve done to prevent this from happening. This song shows that Dally began to become all emotional because Johnny was the only thing keeping Dally sane. And Dally would have been asking himself what he could’ve done to prevent this horrible thing from happening.
Now you belong to heaven

This song represents chapter 10 because Johnny has just died and Pony is having a hard time dealing with it. “The truth brings us to tears” shows that Pony is trying to tell himself that what just happened is not real, but the truth is really is saddening. This song represents chapter 11 because it represents how Pony is delirious about how Bob died. He thinks that He is the one to have killed bob.
“How long do I fantasize, Make believe that it’s still alive.” This lyric shows how Pony is pretending how Johnny is still alive and how he is the one to be at fault foe bob’s death.
Secrets by OneRepublic
This song represents Chapter 12 because at the end Soda tells Pony and Darry how he really feels about their fighting and how always being the middle man is killing him. He wants them to get along as they are all they have left. He tells them all his "secrets."

Move Along by All American Rejects
This song represents the whole book because it talks about different kinds of struggle like Pony went through. The song says that they have to move on from what has happened even if they have lost all their hope.
