Block 2 What made the 1920s "Roaring"? The younger generation began to break away from the molds that their parents and grandparents had been in. They shortened their hair, their dress hems, wore makeup, drank, swore and smoked. There was also a big business boom, with automobiles being priced low enough that low income families could afford them. Commercials convinced many people to use credit with the attitude of buy now, pay later. Babe Ruth is one of the most known baseball players of all time. He hit 714 home runs in 22 seasons and he is still considered one of the best. Babe Ruth Amelia Earhart Amelia Earhart was the first women to try and fly around the world. She had already broke many flying records for women, but on her way around the world her radio transmitter wasn't working, so her flying team lost track of her. Her disappearance is a mystery still. industry and sold their land to people who would later build factories there. Important People of the 1920s The modern political system was created in the 1920s, characterized by advertising, low voting turn out, and weak parties.
The Republican party controlled the consecutive branch during the 1920s.
