Mental and emotional health is the ability to handle the stress and changes of everyday life in a reasonable way.
Having good mental and emotional health is dependent on physical and social needs being met. These needs include getting enough food, water, rest, and shelter, giving and receiving love, and feeling recognized.
What is Mental and Emotional Health?
A large part of good mental and emotional health is accepting who you are; your strengths and weaknesses alike. Accepting yourself is an important part of life because you are who you are and you shouldn't change for anyone. Your strengths are things to be proud of and should give you a sense of pride. Your weaknesses are things that you have to accept and should be taken as a learning opportunity.

Your personality makes you who you are.
Influences on Your Personality
Mental and emotional health is not just one set thing, it is almost always changing. Ways to build strong mental and emotional health include:
Signs of Mental and Emotional Health
Being resilient is the ability to recover after tragedy or disappointment. Resilience is important because it allows you to face everyday challenges and deal with them in a healthy way.
Influences on Your Personality
Heredity
You may receive some genes from your parents that influence your personality.
You have no control over what genes you will receive.
Behavior
Your behavior is how you act and it is a big part of your personality. It is the part of personality that you have the most control over. Your choices and actions reflect on who you are.
Environment
Where you live and who you are surrounded by also play a big role in shaping your personality.
Be able to relax/have fun in a group, and be aware of your feelings and express them in healthy ways.
Set realistic goals and act responsibly.
Be open to constructive feedback about yourself, to gain self improvement.
Show empathy, the ability to identify with and share another person's feelings.
Have a good attitude, a positive outlook; recognize your strengths and work on your weaknesses.
