A Thousand Years by Christina Perri
Why?
I chose this song because it has lots of figurative language in it that I could use for my project. It's also a good song that I like.

[Chorus:]
I have died every day waiting for you
Darling, don't be afraid I have loved you
For a thousand years
I'll love you for a thousand more
Heart beats fast
Colors and promises
How to be brave?
How can I love when I'm afraid to fall?
But watching you stand alone,
All of my doubt suddenly goes away somehow.

One step closer
Time stands still
Beauty in all she is
I will be brave
I will not let anything take away
What's standing in front of me
Every breath
Every hour has come to this

One step closer
[Chorus:]
I have died every day waiting for you
Darling, don't be afraid I have loved you
For a thousand years
I'll love you for a thousand more
And all along I believed I would find you
Time has brought your heart to me
I have loved you for a thousand years
I'll love you for a thousand more

one step closer
one step closer
[Chorus:]
I have died every day waiting for you
Darling, don't be afraid I have loved you
For a thousand years
I'll love you for a thousand more
And all along I believed I would find you
Time has brought your heart to me
I have loved you for a thousand years
I'll love you for a thousand more
About the song
it shows that she really likes a guy and she will love him forever and she's just waiting for him to notice her
the mood that is presented is love
My favorite lines
"darling don't be afraid I have loved you for a thousand years I'll love you for a thousand more"
I like these couple lines the best because she's acting like the reason he doesn't love her is that he thinks she doesn't love him, even though he might not even know her and that's maybe why he doesn't love her.
Poetic elements in "A Thousand Years"
heart beats fast is imagery because you can imagine feeling your heart beating
this shows personification because doubt can't go somewhere, it can't just leave on its own
she hasn't actually died every day, she just is upset on the inside, so it's hyperbole
darling don't is alliteration
you can't love someone for two thousand years, you wouldn't be alive that long so this is hyperbole
time can't stand- personification
be brave is alliteration
this is imagery because you can picture her taking one step closer to the guy
this is repetition because it is the chorus and repeats itself multiple times
and all along all start with
a
so it is alliteration
this is idiom because it is not meant to be taken literally- time didn't actually bring a heart to her
hyperbole again- you cant love someone for a thousand years
repetition
time can't bring something to someone; it is not a person
repetition
album cover
title
calendar- i have died every day, a thousand years
clock for time stands still
heart because heart beats fast and because it is a love song
