period 5 All the action of Wuthering Heights takes place in or around two neighboring houses on the Yorkshire moors—Wuthering Heights and Thrushcross Grange. The time of Nelly’s story begins in the 1770s then ends with Lockwood leaving Yorkshire in 1802.

The mood of this story is serious and fantasy. The tone is depressing and dark.

Heathcliff- romantic hero, due to his love for Catherine.

Catherine- free-spirited and beautiful, but can also be spiteful, arrogant and childish.

Edgar-Catherine's husband. His breeding and wealth attracted Catherine. "It would degrade me to marry Heathcliff now;
so he shall never know how I love him; and that, not because he’s
handsome, Nelly, but because he’s more myself than I am.
Whatever our souls are made of, his and mine are the same, and [Edgar’s] is as different as a moonbeam from lightning, or frost from fire"
This is in paragragh 9 page 92.
Though she loves him Catherine sees Heathcliff as beneath her compared to the social promise of marriage to Edgar. It's hard to find such fake love with the choice she makes, but somehow she manages to work out the logic in her head. The themes of this story are love, revenge,
Family, suffering, and betrayal. The plot summary is about a story of revenge. It follows the life of Heathcliff, from childhood to his death in his late thirties. Heathcliff rises in his adopted family and then is reduced to the status of a servant, running away when the young woman he loves decides to marry another. He returns later, rich and educated, and sets about gaining his revenge on the two families that he believed ruined his life. This is a picture to
represent revenge. The problem is that Heathcliff wants revenge on the families that ruined his life. Wuthering Heights is the only published
novel by Emily Bronte,
