Double click anywhere & add an idea The Great Barrier Reef The Great Barrier Reef is the largest structure made by living organisms. It is made up of more than a billion tiny coral. It is also the world's largest reef system. It can be seen from outer space. It is also bigger than the great wall of china. It is made up of more than 2,000 individual reefs. 200 islands make up most of the reef. It is located in the coral sea off the coast of Australia. Coral sponges, molluscs, manta rays, dolphins, and over 1,500 different types of tropical fish, more than 200 types of birds, about 20 types of reptiles including sea turtles and giant clams that are over 200 years old. It is also a tourist destination The coral have been building up for 20 million years. It was first discovered in 1522 by earlier explorers It is protected by the great barrier reef marine park. Fishing from the reef makes 1 billion U. S. dollars a year. The End! That is the Giant Clam.
