number of 762,678 popular votes and it was really close because William had 735,651 popular votes. Hugh and Daniel were way way way below how many Martin and William had because Hugh had 146,107 votes and Daniel had 41,201 votes.

Parties? Martin was in the Democratic-Republican Party and the Democratic Party

Andrew Jackson's charisma. In the second link they stated that
" A financial panic gripped the nation the following year after he was
elected and he lost his bid for reelection in 1840."
He was also unsuccessful again in 1844. Also that same year the
