Interview with Cheryl Kies (child development teacher) Barbies real proportions are 39, 21, 33. -Do you think that Barbie negatively affects kids? Why?
Yes, because just like today media pushing adults to look a certain way, barbies can make a child at a early age want to be that way.
-Why do kids love barbie/want to be like her?
She has the "hot boyfriend Ken" nice cars, and is the ideal bleach blonde perfect body woman. They want to have that perfect life Barbie is made out to have
Problems with Barbie If Barbie were a real person, she would be 6' 0", weigh 100 lbs., and wear a size 4. Her measurements would be 39"/21"/33"

Also, She would not be able to menstruate, hold up her back and neck, would have to crawl on all fours due to her legs and feet, and would have many medical problems.

She promotes not getting a job

She hangs around boys all the time, with no parents.

She also lets anyone take her clothes off. Eating disorders -When kids look at Barbies waist size they emulate the things they love.
-Some kids want to be like her and have her life so bad that they develop eating disorders at a young age.
Barbie is a bad role model for children . -Barbie is an inappropriate toy for young children because children often want to be like there toys.

-Unrealistic body porportions, that promote unhealthy life choices.

-The Barbie company is advertising Barbie as a great doll and role model for young children. But her lifestyle and characteristics are unattaitable and unsafe for their CHILD audience.
