Transcript of Allegory Project

X-MEN Stan Lee and Jack Kirby created the X-Men to send messages to the general public about social issues. A lil history for ya The original X-Men was founded by Charles Xavier (also known as Professor X) who is a paraplegic telepath. He took in theses these young kids at the "School for Gifted Youngsters" in Westchester County, New York. He started his own school called the Xavier INstitute where he helped these young mutants control thier powers Professor X started with five kids who were Cyclops, Marvel Girl (Jean Grey), Archangel, Beast, and Iceman. The X-Men had an arch-nemisis called Magneto who is a Holocaust survivor. Magneto was also a mutant who controlled magnetism. Magneto felt that the mutants should rule over the humans or kill them all. Magneto had his own group of mutants that followed his idea of total domination. This group was started with 4 other mutants which were Mastermind, Toad, Quicksilver, and Scarlet Witch. = Professer X believed the mutants should live among the humans without mutant discrimination and keep everything peaceful. Martin Luther King Jr. believed African Americans should protest peacefully and live without racial discrimination peacefully. = Magneto believed that in order for the humans to stop discriminating against the mutants, the mutants would have to rise up against the humans Malcolm X believed black people were superior to the white race and blacks would achieve superiority by any means necessary. Gay Superheroes??? Yes it's true. There Are gay superheroes In the comic book, being a mutant was frowned upon and they often would get casted out. In our society, some people see homosexuality as a bad thing and some families won't accept their own children Anti-Semitism There are mutant slave labor camps on the island of Genosha, where numbers are burned onto the slave mutants' heads. Much like the Holocaust Comic books, entertainment, and movies are a good way to send out messages to the public about social issues. There is always something that can be learned from human nature, you just have to look close enough.
