ALGEBRA SECTIONS 8.1-8.3 Section 8.1 Key Concept: Product of Powers Property

Words: To multiply powers having the same base, add the exponents.

Example:
Key Concept: Power of a Power Property

Words: To find a power of a power, multiply exponents.

Example: Key Concept: Power of a Product Property

Words: To find a power of a product, find the power of each factor and multiply.

Example: Section 8.2 Key Concept: Quotient of Powers Property

Words: To divide powers having the same base, subtract exponents

Example: Key Concept: Power of a Quotient Property

Words: To find a power of a quotient, find the power of the numerator and the power of the denominator and divide.

Example: Section 8.3 Key Concept: Definition of zero and negative exponents.

A number to the zero power is 1
