Ecological batteries
The problem of some alternative energy sources
Irregular production of energy or uncoordinated to human consumption.
Why some clean energy sources demand an expensive producion?
Usage of non ecologically-friendly batteries.
Recycling of batteries
The percentage of batteries recycled in the UK is less than 25%.
To recycle, the batteries are divided by their chemistry.
The kind of batteries that are recycled the most is the wet-cell type (90%).
Some alternative batteries
Materials used in batteries are normally environmentally-harmful.
Two altarantive proposes:
The Edison battery.
The alcohol battery.
Alcohol batteries
Works just with oxygene and hydrogene.
Using the tendency of this elements to react, it creates a current.
The only waste is water and hydrogene.
Disadvantages:
Uses a recent technology of catalyst to favor the passage of protons of hydrogen.
The hydrogen is highly explosive if not well handled.

Normal disposable dry-cell batteries:
Alkaline batteries.
Lithium button cells.
Normal rechargable dry-cell batteries:
Lithium-ion and lithium ion polymer.
