Transcript of The Animal Cell

The Animal Cell
We chose the animal cell over the plant cell because we thought it would be more interesting and because we like animals more.
The Cell
Nucleus
The Nucleus contains DNA which holds the blueprints of the cell. The Nucleus is the headquarters of the cell. It is the brain of a cell because that is were most of the activities happen. It is also like a cookbook, and the DNA is the recipes.
The Mitochondria is a part of the cell that converts, stores and releases energy.
Cell Membrane and Cytoplasm
Cysosomes include vacuoles.A vacuole is membrane-bound organelle and are present in plant, animal, and bacteria cells.
All cells are surrounded by a cell membrane made of phospholipids. The cells Cytoplasm is inside and is a fluid that keeps everything in its place.

Vacuoles/Lysosomes
Ribosomes
Ribosomes link amino acids together in the
order specified by the messenger RNA
molecules.
Ribosomes are made of two subunits the small subunit reads the RNA message and tells the larger subunit what to do and the larger subunit connects the amino acids together.
The Cell Wall
The cell wall is outside the cell membrane it protects cells against mechanical stress. it is found in cells of plants, bacteria, archaea, fungi, and algae it is NOT found in animal or most protists.
Endoplasmic Reticulum
There is the rough and smooth Endoplasmic Reticulum (ER) the rough ER makes membranes and proteins. In certain white blood cells the rough ER produces antibodies.
The smooth ER takes some of the membranes and proteins that the rough ER makes and mves them to different places.
The Golgi complex is an organelle
found in most eukaryote cells. It
stores proteins inside the cell
before they are sent to their
destination.

Cell Compartments
Vesicles have a bubble-like structure that stores and transports cellular products and it digests metabolic waste that is stored inside the cell.
Chloroplast
Chloroplast are organelles found in plant cells. They conduct photosynthesis and they carry out almost all the fatty acid synthesis in plants.
Cytoskeleton
Cytoskeleton is a cellular skeleton that is in a cell's cytoplasm.
