Transcript of Career Shadow

C&L Upholstery This company is an upholstery business. Upholstery is providing furniture, especially seats, with padding, springs, webbing, and fabric or leather covers. 15 years from now, my mentor (my grandma) will have shut down the company. For this job, many employability skills are needed, including:
Time Management
Business Attire
Work Safety
Response to Stress

Time management is important in this job because many different jobs have to be done all at once. The average salary for someone in this position is between 40,000 to 60,000 annually. High school and training course in the profession. In this job, my mentor uses a phone, computer, sewing machine, calculator, and a compression staple gun. Technology Skills Needed Commercial sewing machine operation, basic math skills, tools of the trade, social skills, and organizational skills. I would not pursue this profession; it's a little too much work. I also need a boss, or I would never get my work done. The best part was driving around talking to the different customers and it was not repetitive. The part I disliked the most was how some customers were hard to please. You have to be polite talking to customers on the phone or face to face. It is important to operate the machinery properly to avoid injury. There are many customers demanding service all at once and you have to keep up with all of them. Casual to business dress, depending on the client. T By Amanda Black
