What is it?
Why studying a fish like the lamprey?

What is it?
It's a lamprey.
He gets also called vampire fish.
Lampreys are parasitic fish that live off their host's blood ("Neunauge").
Instead of jaws, they have tube-like mouths.

Why studying a fish like the lamprey?
The lamprey has been studied because its relatively simple brain reflect the brain structure of early vertebrate ancestors.

Sten Grillner studied the motor control in vertebrates (how they moves).
What does this fish?
Terrifying mouths to latch onto a host fish and suck its blood.
Sometimes there are catched by gulls.
The lamprey is too squirmy and fall down.
"lamprey shower" in Alaska!
How does it live?
grow up along riverbanks in Alaska
spend their adult lives in the ocean
