Across Five Aprils
design by Dóri Sirály for Prezi
Time Period
This book was set in 1861-1865. There was tension between the north and south states over their thoughts over slavery. Those thoughts triggered the four-year Civil War.
This book tells you what this time period was actually like for families and soldiers in the war. In this book Jethro writes a letter to President Lincoln asking for advice about what to do about finding Eb in the woods. I learned that President Lincoln was interested in Jethro's problem and how he was as a person. I learned that the Civil War was over slavery because throughout the book they talked about slavery.
