The Change in Use
They were originally used to work out in but now, they are mainly used to relax in or to workout in.
Improvements
Back before when they were first created, they only had one type. Which was ash gray, drawstring sweatpants. But now more and more brands have been making spinoffs of the normal sweatpants, making them more colorful and unique.

The Impact On Society
Sweatpants have made mostly a positive impact in society with giving them comfortable clothing to wear. On the negative side, it causes more and more laziness as it got popular. Nobody worked out in them like their original purpose.

Loose warm trousers with an elasticized waist, worn when exercising or as leisureware
The Original Inventor
The original inventor of the sweatpants was Emile Camuset. They were invented in the early 1920's.
