Poet: Shakespeare
Poem: Phoenix &
the Turtle The poet that we are researching is William Shakespeare. No one really knows when his birthdate was, but we do know that on April 26 1564 is the day he was baptised. William Shakespeare is mostly known for his extraordinary language in his plays. He made about 38 plays throughout his lifetime with 154 sonnets and two long narrative poems. He was born and raised in Stratford-Upon-Avon, England. At only the age of 18 he married Anne Hathaway and then had three children named Susanna, and twins Hamnet and Judith. They would do that because back then in the 1500’s they didn’t have any vaccinations or anything to protect you from disease. Author's Style Form & Structure Poet’s Life & Work Significance to group Biography Shakespeare used a metrical pattern consisting of lines of unrhymed iambic pentameter, called blank verse. He also like to use sonnets.Shakespeare's first plays were written in the conventional style of the day.I would show you but in the poem he didn’t use any.If look at his poems carefully you can find imagery. For imagery he said Death is now the phoenix' nest And the turtle's loyal breast To eternity doth rest. By: Alex By: Ricardo By: Alex Shakespeare our poet would normally write fictional narrative poem. The poem that we had was The Phoenix and the Turtle which is about a funeral for a Phoenix and a Turtle Dove’s and the people at the funeral talked about how much the two loved each other. A Phoenix is a methodical creature so it’s fictional and it tells a story so it’s a narrative. The poem had short lines but near the end of the poem it was split and it said Threnos which is unusual and most poet don’t do that. The length of the lines did help convey meaning because it’s almost reading a love poem with very large lines. By: Alex The problem is that we don’t know much about Shakespeare’s life that it is hard to get the details we could attach to his sonnets. But the one thing that I do know is that people who lived in Elizabethan times there were a lot of conspiracy theories. Many of them believed in witchcraft so in some of Shakespeare’s plays and poems he would put some type of supernatural idea into his work. There was also a time period of Shakespeare’s life that no one knows which are called the lost years. William left his family one day and he returned several years later. Their is a play that said it was written by Shakespeare but he was never their. So we don’t know who really wrote it. don’t know. By: Alex Our group admires the poet because we love all the words that Shakespeare used. No other famous poet used words like thou, nor and words like that. Shakespeare is also just a great poet. When Alex was in 3rd grade he was in a Romeo and Juliet play and ever since then Alex has always wanted to know more about Shakespeare because no one knows everything about Shakespeare. But hopefully in the future we can. Jack Long in world war II
there I was in the navy blue.
It was just me and my entire crew.
We were fighting long and hard.
Just to kill that Adolf.
When we got there we were too late.
He committed suicide for his mistake.
Now the war’s about to end.
Any day we’re gone.
Just when we’re about to leave.
And be claimed heros of war.
I was shot was shot from far.
They tried to patch;Me up.
But they got me in the heart.
They told my family I was gone.
They gave them a lot of money
Now were rich and of the farm.
They took the money and bought a house.
And I'm happy from the above.
And I wrote this letter with care and love.

The waves crash on the shore
and far back you can see
the silver backs of the dolphins
moving as if they were saying hi to me

silver and blue
as the waves grew
the dolphins jump
the sun shines down
on the clear blue sea i could never frown of the sight of thee

Their skin as smooth as silk
and they make the softest sound
as if they were a kitten drinking milk
their patterns and movements
amaze me, and all i can do
is just stare at the sea

I think if only humans
could be as graceful as thee
the world would be
so much more peaceful and pretty just like these creatures in the sea Kobe Bryant

Jack I stood by your bed last night, I came to have a peep.I could see that you were crying. You found it hard to sleep.

I whined to you softly
as you brushed away a tear,
"It's me, I haven't left you,
I'm well, I'm fine, I'm here."

I was with you at my grave today,
You tend it with such care.
I want to re-assure you,
that I'm not lying there.

I walked with you towards the house,
as you fumbled for your key.
I gently put my paw on you,
I smiled and said " it's me."

And when the time is right
for you to cross the brief divide,
I'll rush across to greet you
and we will stand, side-by-side.

I have so many things to show you,
there is so much for you to see.
Be patient, live your journey out...
then come home to be with me. By: Alexander
