War of the Wall Presentation By: Jamie Griffith:)& Ashley Cottrell:) Main Characters:There are many characters in this story. There are friends and family, but the main characters are the painter lady, Lou, and the narrator. Setting of the Story: Somewhere in the southern region of the U.S. Summary:The summary of the story is that Lou and the narrator are frustrated with the painter lady when she takes their wall and paints whatever she wants.But once they see it they love it and like her but she's already gone. Date: The story took place during the Vietnam War which took place during 1959-1975... Main Idea: Don't Judge A Book By Its Cover!!!
supporting details: at fisrt everyone thinks that the painter lady is rude and no one likes her but after everyone likes her after they see the wall..... :) Vocabulary Words:
Courtesies-words and actions of polite behavior.
Whiff-a slight smell or odor.
Trance-in a state of mind between sleeping and waking.
" Fix her wagon"- put her in place, or show her who's boss.
Easel- an upright support used for displaying or fixing whatever is resting upon it.
Subway- underground rapid transit system.
Beckoned-to signal or summon by nodding or waving.
Liberation- the act or fact of gaining equal rights.
Vietnam- Socialist Republic of Vietnam,country in Southeast Asia, capital:Hanoi.
Inscription- a historical,religious,or other record cut, impressed, painted, or carved in stone, brick, metal, or other hard surface. Plot diagram: Ranking(1-10) & Why: I give this story a 10 because it was very interesting and made me want to look up tons of things about it and read more of Toni Cade Bambara's books.... :) Vocabulary Word Sentences:

"I'm about to fix her wagon," grandma snapped.
The artist had to go to the hardware store to get new wood for her easel.

She beckoned me to come over to where she was sitting.
The allies liberated France in World War II.
The Vietnam War was in 1959-1975.
There were many inscriptions on the wall at a high school we passed by. The painter lady takes their wall.... The boys want to do something about it ... The wall is finished Everyone sees lots of famous people on it like Martin Luther King Jr. and others.... Lou and the narrator see Jimmy Lyons on the wall Everybody likes the painter lady but she is allready gone... The End!!!!
