Fashion Forecasting Spring/Summer 2015
Transcript of Fashion Forecasting Spring/Summer 2015
Jeremy Scott presents a pop art infused theme that screams youth. Bright colors accompany splashy patterns from scribbles to stripes and statement graphics. Silhouettes have a retro slant and often include cropped/bra tops against mini skirts, while cutout column dresses are reserved for the most daring.
Malandrino presents a new twist on nautical attire, with a charming sailing print taking center stage. Wide leg pants provide a great backdrop for separates like wrap tops or tunics. Other highlights include full skirts and shoulder cutout details.
One of the biggest themes to progress forward this season is athletic reference in sportswear. DKNY, Milly and Tommy Hilfiger get in on the action. Primary brights play an important role, while transparency becomes even more essential with mesh materials. More literal takes on the trend incorporate sport jerseys or bomber jackets and color blocking continues. Cutouts and functional zippers are a common detail.
While 90s references are featured elsewhere this season, the boldest move by far is a 90s street look inspired by the R&B group TLC. DKNY and Alexander Wang make a bold statement inclusive of branded logos and even those "Parental Advisory" music labels. The look speaks to the young contemporary market with silhouettes like cropped tops and overalls, while infusing a sporty element with sheer components.
All the looks are Jeremy Scott designs. The cropped mini and bra.
All Malandrino designs- she hits the high notes in this category.
Also known as Boho chic. Anna Sui progresses a bohemian aesthetic with Gypset. Looks range from heavy ethnic prints and patterns to plays on crochet and lace. Silhouettes, whether short or long are relaxed and flowing, and styling details like ruffles, fringe or embroidery are frequented. Caftan-style tops make a noteworthy layering component.
This theme recalls the designs of Claire McCardell, who is attributed for introducing the "American Look." Derek Lam, Rebecca Taylor and Thakoon feature All American Sportswear prominently. Key highlights include patchwork denim and the shirt dress, for an ultimately paired down casual look.
Named after the famous Hollywood actress, this look conjures up silhouettes from the 40s. Michael Kors pioneers the theme with the belted fit, flare shapes and pencil skirts. A diverse material offering ranges from tweed to knits to ditsy florals.
The 90's influences minimalisms for the spring 14 runways. Essentials like the slip dress , asymmetric lines and white-on-white looks are key. Sometimes incorporating sheer layers, while neutrals and monochromatic expressions are also highlighted.
