There is a very solid idea of psychoanalysis with the characters and the book itself.
What is conscious?
"Contacts kept out of conscious that is keeping our thoughts from awareness. Not accessible, in other words, assumptions in our mind.
Reality principle, working our realistic ways to satisfying ourselves. There is no right or wrong when is comes to the ego.
When Katniss is victorious and she survives she is satisfied. She does whatever she can to survive.
Part of the mind that stands for morals and values. Pays the most attention to others.
Katniss teamed up with the youngest member Rue.
Unconscious psychic energy. "Pleasure principle"
In this case its pleasure for safety.
Katniss climbed the trees to hide from the other opponents. She hid from them so she could live. Survival instinct.

Psychoanalysis is a theory created by Sigmud Freud that aims to treat mental disorders by looking at the unconscious and conscious part of the mind.
Sigmund Freud facts and Who he was:
Freud was the creator of psychoanalysis. Also known as "the father of psychology,"
Freud was born May 6th, 1856 in Vienna.
He died on September 23rd 1939
Freud was a cocaine user
His daughter, Anna, was also a famous Psychologist.
He wrote numerous amounts of books such as
The Interpretation of Dreams (1900) and Three Essays on the Theory of Sexuality (1905).
His work and writings contributed to our understanding of personality, clinical psychology, human development and abnormal psychology."(Psychology.com)
Conscious is the "working memory" and is the most easily accessed out of the three.
Katniss is always aware of her actions and knows what she's doing.
The book is in her Point of view which is initially her conscious.
Katniss volunteered when her sister was called on reaping day. She did this in order to save her sister. And is afraid of what will happen to her
Katniss had thought that the mockingjay pin would protect her.
