Transcript of Rate, Ratio & Percentages

RATE, RATIO & PERCENT _________________________________________ RATE What is a rate ? _________________________________________ ______________________________________________________ ______________________________________________________ ____________________________________________________ ________________________________________________________ Ratio "Rate is a comparision of two quantities measured in different types of units;
unlike ratios, rates include units" Example: What is a Ratio ? "A Ratio is a way to compare two or more numbers" Percent What is a percent ? " a special ratio that compares a number to 100 using the symbol %." Example : Example : Question : A survey has called that the Canadian male-to-female participant for Hockey was 3:1. For a
class trip 24 boys signed up. How many girls signed up ? 1:3 = 2:6 x2 x2 2
6 - x4 x4 = 8
24 _ We took the first ratio and multiplied it by 2, then we found that 6 goes into 24, 4 times. So the answer is 8 girls signed up. In a student council election students voted wheather to have rabbits in their
class or not. Amina counted up the votes and got 168 out of 240 ballots
What percent of students want rabbits? 168 168 70

0 = ________ ________ ___________________ ___________ 2.4 2.4 I divided 240 by 100 and got 2.4. So then I divided 168 by 2.4 and got 70. 70 % of students want rabbits in their class. Example : On a trip from Kingston to Toronto Enrique drove 240 km for 3 hours.

What was the average rate that he drove per hour ? 240 km km
3h 1h = 240km 3 80km
3h 3 1h _____________________________________________ ___________________ = I can divide 3 by 3 to get 1 hour.
So I did the same to 240. The average rate thar Enrique drove per hour was 80km. Made By : Amina, Ibtissam, and Simar P.S only one class can have the rabbit . . . Makka Pakka SUNNY Squirrel WATERMELON RABBIT
