Culture Word Sort
Your teacher will hand you a set of index cards. We will work together to place them in categories.
Objective: Students will be able to build a vocabulary with which to analyze and discuss culture by making inferences about cultural vocabulary words and examples.
SB page 10
Add circles to create a word web around the word Culture. Write words or phrases that you associate with culture. Draw lines to connect the new circles to the one shown below.
We will use your prior knowledge and what we have learned and discussed in the unit to come up with a definition of culture together. You will write the definition in the box on page 10.
Directions: Read and think about each of the words you have been given. Now, group the words into categories that make logical sense to you. Ask yourself which words would logically go together. After you group the words, give each group a label. Be ready to explain or justify the rationale behind your groups/categories and labels. There are seven different different categories/groups.
Now that we have finished our cultural word sort...
Let's add the words "Customs"
and "Assimilation" in our vocabulary notebooks. Once we have finished we will add them to our word wall.
