A snapshot of the "average" JHU student smart! involved! motivated! However when it comes to health...... the average Hopkins student is not living a healthy, balanced lifestyle! 59% are stressed out 45% aren't getting enough exercise only 8% are getting enough sleep 7 days a week 90% are not eating all their fruits and veggies YET 65% describe their health as very good or excellent So what the health is going on?!! Alcohol, tobacco and other drugs Most JHU students practice safe drinking habits such as using a designated driver
staying with the same group of friends
eating before and/or during drinking
keeping track of their drinks We know health factors can have a negative impact on academics
stress/anxiety
lack of sleep
relationships
depression
colds/flu
internet/gaming Stop@Buzzed for all the benefits without the consequences Stick to a B.A.C. of .02 to .06 Tips on sipping
alternate
eat
don't mix alcohol
don't use drugs or rx Tobacco 77% of JHU students have never smoked 21% report being non-daily smokers 12% report using marijuana in the last 30 days what's the perception? 76% 8% have used a hookah within the past 30 days what's the perception? 65% How about Rx drug abuse? 6.5% reported unprescribed use Stimulant on the level of cocaine

22% reported doing moderate-intensity cardio or aerobic exercise for at least 30 minutes per day

35% reported doing vigorous-intensity cardio or aerobic exercise for at least 20 minutes 3-7 days a week GOT SLEEP? MENTAL HEALTH ISSUES What percentage of JHU students were diagnosed with anxiety or panic attacks in the last year? 12% In addition JHU students reported:
74% feeling overwhelmed
42% feeling very lonely
32% feeling overwhelming anxiety GOT STRESS? 59% reported more than average to tremendous stress within the last 12 months GOT QUESTIONS? 27% had sleep difficulties in the last 12 months
Only 8% got enough sleep to feel rested in the morning on 6+ days
