Marco Polo and His Travels
In 1275, Kublai Khan sent Marco on a mission. Marco completed his mission and did his job so well that Kublai Khan wanted Marco to work for him. As a result, Marco rose in favor with Kublai Khan and in 1280 Marco became the ruler of one of Kublai Khan's cities.
Returning Home
In 1295, Marco Polo and his family returned home to Venice. They had been gone for 24 years in all. When they arrived they found that their country was at war with Genoa.
In 1271, when Marco was seventeen he traveled to Asia with his father and uncle. It took three years, but he finally arrived in China in 1274. He met Kublai Khan, the ruler of China and learned how to speak Chinese well.
Marco Polo
Marco Polo was born to Nicole Anna Defuseh and Niccolo Polo in Venice, Italy 1254. He is known for exploring China and Mongolia.
In 1298 Marco joined forces against Genoa, but was captured and taken as prisoner of war. In prison he met a writer; he told the writer about his travels and the writer wrote these stories down. In 1299, Marco finally was released from prison.
In 1300, Marco got married at the age of 46 and started having children. He had three girls.
In 1307 Marco started to become famous. Word of his amazing travels got around. People were fascinated with the world of chinese.
In 1324, Marco Polo died at the age of 74. He died of natural causes and old age.
Marco is most famous for his travels through Mongolia and China. He went farther into Asia than any other european before him.
Marco Polo helped us learn and know more about China. He inspired other explorers like Christopher Columbus! In 1851 there was a ship named after Marco and was the first ship to sail around the world in under 6 months!

Hall of Fame
I believe that Marco Polo should be in the hall of fame. I believe this because he helped us learn alot about China. I don't know what his personality was like since he lived such a long time ago, therefore assuming he had a good presonality he should be in the hall of fame.
