“Sanitary landfill” sounds much better than “dump,” but they are still just holes in the ground full of garbage that stinks and leaks and that could have been prevented, reused, or recycled instead. Landfill in China Landfill In Australia Recycle Landfills controlled landfills and uncontrolled landfills Uncontrolled landfill Controlled landfill Beijing has become a city surrounded by waste Garbage in China China produces 254 million tons of garage a year, or about a third of a kilogram per person per day — a third of the world’s annual trash and garbage output.

Even though the average Chinese dumps only half the garbage that average American does that level will grow by about 4 percent a year until it reached around 50 percent more than what it is now.

Over 200 billion Yuan’s (US$32 billion) worth of food is thrown away annually nationwide

Consumption of packaged foods rose 10.8 percent a year between 2000 and 2008 and is expected to rise 74 percent between 2008 and 2013 with the value of the packaged food reaching $195 billion. (GARBAGE IN CHINA,2013)
