Total land area 147,570 square kilometers
Surrounded by India almost 95%, 4,000 km, land border
Joined the Asian Highway network with 32 countries on 2009
160 million population, 42% are working group, average age of the working group 26 years
90% of the population are Muslim
GDP growth 6.0% consecutively for the last 5 years, average Inflation 6.5%
National currency Bangladesh TAKA (1 usd = 78.0 Taka)
Per Capita Income USD1,300/per anum
Total Export of the country : 30 billion USD
Total Import of the country : 40 billion USD
Industrialization grew mainly in Dhaka & Chittagong district, due to availability of natural gas in the nearby eastern region.

Two major sea ports in the country in Chittagong & Khulna district. 250 km from the Capital, takes almost 7 hours for a cargo to reach to the port

Country economy is mainly based on Agriculture.

Bangladesh covers only 7% of the Global Clothing market ($350 billion), leaving a big opportunity to become the No.1

3.5 million work force engaged with the garment industry, 80% are women

They say one of the many ways to get more friends is at the time of a disaster. Well, we have had tough times. It is when two International bodies came to our aid, Alliance and Accord.
Initiatives by the Labor Unions and the Brands in May 2013
2500 factories are undergoing safety inspection by the two initiatives and ILO backed NTP
Initiatives would be completed in 2018
The big learning is Bangladesh now needs to invest in capacity building to continue the development works and make it sustainable.
