How it ALL FITS...
SUPERVISOR
As the "proverbial"
TRUNK
of the tree, supervisors play a pivotal role in implementing and overseeing the Safety Management System.
EMPLOYER
Safety Management System is a cyclical - continual - ongoing process.

While
ELEMENTS
may be complete, this does not mean that it is FINISHED

Safety should never remain static.
What is a Safety Management System?

A systematic way to identify hazards & control risks, while ensuring that any and all controls in place are effective.
It's simply a business like approach to
SAFETY.....
A comprehensive process for managing risks, instead of for business/corporate risks - its for
SAFETY risks

The Safety Management System provides for goal setting, planning and performance measurement.
It does this by examining: operational and human resource processes to ensure all tasks are safe (hazards mitigated).
By doing so, the Safety Management System

is woven into the fabric of our organization, it becomes part of our culture

- the way we do our jobs.
That's not to say it's not happening now....it just needs to be more formalized, similar to other industries.

That's what a robust Safety Management System

will do.
"Employer" is considered to be:
- Deputy Minister of Department, or
