Choose one of these and...
Your task for the rest of the lesson is to write an extended response style answer to the following questions...
- Name your chosen technology and identify its origins.
- What is the technology primarily used for?
- How were decisions in this sport made before this technology?
- In your opinion, what level of influence does this technology have over the outcome of the sport?
Technology, Participation and Performance
Technology in Phases
Okay, we know that technology can be used in three phases of competition...
1.Preparation phase (heart rate monitors, technique analysis, stats etc.
2. Performance phase (playing surface, equipment, clothing etc)
3. Judging and officiating (touch pads, photo finish, video replay etc).
DRS, HAWK EYE, LIGHT GATES
Let's Debate!
What I want to know is, who can form the best argument (this just means, how well can you prove that you are right?)
So we're going to have a THREE WAY DEBATE!
Decisions, Decisions
Remember that technology can be applied in sport in phases... Preparation, Performance and Judging/Officiating.
How many technologies can you think of that assist with judging/officiating?
Technology, Participation and Performance
What do you think....?
To what extent (if any) do you think using technology in sport cheating?
Are athletes born or made?
Your debate team must include:
- 4 speakers (sort out what order)
- at least 2 scribes (writers)
- at least 6 solid arguments
- a tag line (rugby league ref...shoulda gone to specsavers)
-technology is cheating
a winning attitude :)

Enter the SHARK TANK
Key Ideas from the Shank Tank??
What makes a product sell?
How do you sell a product successfully (marketing)?
What questions did the sharks ask about their product?
If the sharks turned the product down, what were the reasons?
Time to Create
It's your turn to create a product. This product needs to fill a particular market space. Read the following:
"Sport in Australia has reached a stale phase. Whilst sport technology is advancing across the globe, Australia seems to be lagging behind."
This is where you come in.
1.Preparation phase (heart rate monitors, technique analysis, stats etc.
2. Performance phase (playing surface, equipment, clothing etc)
3. Judging and officiating (touch pads, photo finish, video replay etc).
