Born on February 28, 1960 in El Paso, Texas

When he moved to California, he progressed to cocaine addiction, burglary, and was interested in weapons.
His first jail sentence was for car theft in 1983.
At 16, he was accused of rape, but the judge believed that he was lured into it by the woman.
Killing Spree
Ramirez's first murder took place on June 28, 1984.
His victim was 79-year-old Jennie Vincow.
A few months later, he attacks a second victim, Angela Barrios
She managed to get away but then he killed her roommate.
A few days later, Ramirez murdered 64-year-old Vincent Zazzara and Zazzara's 44-year-old wife, Maxine.
What was he charged with and sentenced to?
He was sentenced to death row and charged with 13 counts of murder.
He was sent to San Quentin Prison in California.
What was the nature and time span of his crimes? How many victims? (continue)
First, he killed any male figures and ransacked their home after.
Then, he would assault rape and most of the time kill the women.
5 women lived but he killed over 13 people total of men and women in a span of one year.
He also broke into at least 11 homes.
What was his adult life like? Did he finish high school/college? Did he marry or have children? Was he a loner?
His wife’s name was Doreen Lioy.
Doreen began writing to Ramirez in jail and often had to compete with other woman for him.
While visiting him, she often ran into other women who wanted to marry him and was threatened multiple times.

He proposed to her in 1988.
He was drawn to her because she claimed to be a virgin and was raised Catholic (claimed to be agnostic).
After they married, she was still a virgin because the jail didn’t let people on death row have conjugal.
He died of lymphoma on June 7th, 2013 while awaiting death row.
He was 53 when he died.

No, he was never diagnosed with any mental disorders.
Was he ever diagnosed with a mental disorder? Did he ever receive treatment?
He was caught when a liquor store employee recognized him.
He was captured by a mob.
When the police came, he begged for protection from the mob and identified himself as the night stalker.

What was his childhood like?
He was the youngest of seven children to a Catholic family.
He had a troubled childhood and was influenced by his older cousin, Mike.
Mike believed in Satanic Worship and he influenced Richard to do so as well. This ruined his relationship with his Catholic parents.
Mike, who had been a soldier in the Vietnam War often told Ramirez stories of him mutilating/torturing Vietnamese women and showed him pictures.
He quit school in the ninth grade.
He killed people for the Devil.
He never tried to hide his identity.
He would draw a pentagram on the victim’s body or near the crime scene.
He stalked the victims (randomly).
