#2 Liz Claiborne Leaders of Fashion History The Finished Product The good times and the hard times Project and paper #1 Some of the great fashion leaders of history are considered to be vintage today. These great vintage designers are My strengths gained the skill of more sewing experience for future projects. In the years 1950 to 1955 Liz held several different titles such as designing sportswear, tailored clothing, and high vintage fashion. My strengths I gained more sewing experiences. Saint Laurent found himself at age 21 the head designer of the House of Dior. Elsa added evening wear to the collection in 1931 also, and the business strengthened more and more each day, terminating a move from Rue de la Paix to acquiring the renowned salon of Madeleine Chéruit at 21 Place Vendôme, nicknamed it the Schiap Shop. Another positive experience with this garment was making darts. 4Th paper The last skill I gained would be with shoulder sewing. Another skill I gained would be with zippers. I gained more knowledge on interfacing, stitching in the ditch. A skill I gained was how to make clothing in a different way, say the instructions don’t always give you the easy way. My difficulties The zipper because I had to move the zipping piece frequently to sew the zipper in. Sewing the interfacing down to the dress, it was difficult because the fabric got thicker when placed upon each other. Interfacing with the zipper. The shoulders, the inside out hand stitching thing. The interfacing and cutting the pattern in half. Making a dress that has a style of a vintage one but a more modern look. Making something I would wear. Sewing the hem. Making the dress straight with the iron and clipping. Surging most of the dress. My difficulties I gained more sewing experiences. I gained a dress, the dress increase my sewing skills. A skill I gained was getting better with darts. Another skill I gained was the fit of it. My Difficulties Another difficulty I had to seam rip. A difficulty I had was sewing the zipper. A difficulty I had was sewing in the zipper at the right point so the hook and eye could be put in. I had a difficult time reading the instructions. My Strengths A positive experience I had with this project is that I got to use the surger. Sewing all the hems. A positive experience I’ve had making this garment was sewing in a hook and eye Claire McCardell - know for making functional and cute affordable clothing. Marilyn Monroe - know for her classic style. Liz Claiborne - was very successful in marketing clothing and made 23 mill in 1980 Coco Chanel - created the trousers and suits for women. She sold her clothing in department stores; her clothing soon became known for its comfortable fit, colors, constructed well. Later in 1981 she had started sewing different variety of clothing. She expanded with petite, Dresses, shoes, perfume, and even menswear. When she was only 21 years of age she had won an award in the Jacques Heim design competition.  A positive experience I had with this project is that I got to use the surger quite often.  A difficulty I had was not sewing straight enough.  Sewing all the hems.  A positive experience I’ve had making this garment was ironing, how to adjust the setting for the right material.  Another positive experience with this garment was making a casing, so now I know more about how to make it better.  A difficulty I had was the fabric, it was very thin and non-durable. Not Many Steps to tell you how  Another difficulty I had to seam rip, such a pain. Yves spent his first year at the House of Dior on mundane tasks, such as decorating the studio and designing accessories Saint Laurent was in the military for 20 days before the stress of hazing by fellow soldiers caused his check-in at a military hospital His fall 1958 collection was not greeted with the same level of approval as his first collection. The END Coco Chanel was one of her greatest rivals during her life time The "pour le Sport" collection expanded the following year to include bathing suits, ski-wear, and linen vintage dresses. A skill I gained was getting better with elastic. Another skill I gained was how to pick out the right material for the project. I gained a dress, the dress increase my skills.
