What is a good person
Transcript of What is a good person
Treat others like you want to be treated.
Is there such a thing as good and bad people? Will one action decide if we are good or bad for the rest of our lives? In my eyes being a good person means to utilize your opportunities. Helping others and not asking for anything back is a sign of being polite and kind, but that doesn't necessarily mean that they are a good person. When someone pops the question what is a good person, the first thing that comes to my mind is kind, sweet, supportive, respectful, friendly and good morals. Even though this is part of what makes a good person, then it can change from day to day just depending on the persons mood. Everybody can have a bad day or era in their life, but that shouldn't effect whether or not they are a good person. If you in your life have a 100 opportunities that other who are less fortunate don't have, then you should take them. A good person to me is...

A person who lives life to its fullest
“The purpose of life is to live it, to taste experience to the utmost, to reach out eagerly and without fear for newer and richer experience.”
Roosevelt, is in simple and good words explaining what i think a good person is. She might be telling what the purpose of life is, but to me they are connected. A good person follow the purpose of life, they stay on track.
Yesterday is history, Tomorrow is a mystery but today is a gift, that’s why it’s called the present.
What is a good person?
Columbus lived back in the 1400 hundreds, at this time people had just started to realize the world wasn't flat. People traveled around Europe a lot more than they had before, they started to really interact with other cultures and religions. Some had traveled the long way to Asia, it would take them weeks given they had to sail south of Africa. Columbus wanted to go west around the world, he was trying to find a faster way to get to Asia. He ended up bumping into America and later on went back to America another three times to explore more.
Christopher was a man who wanted more out of life than the usual, he didn't just want to sit around the village and repeat the daily tasks; Columbus wanted to explore life, he had the opportunity to live life and get more knowledge, and so he did. Columbus lived in a time where exploring the world was a new and interesting thing.
Gandhi was a man of life, he was what many would put under the category a good person. He lead a whole country to independence and inspired movements for non-violence, civil rights and freedom across the world. Gandhi was a man of action. He didn't like the way the country was working and the perspective the world had on the future, so he changed it. He was one of the people who realized that if you want something done you have to do it yourself. He believed in living and experiencing life. Buddhism say that you can be anything you want to, Gandhi followed this. He stood up and showed people how much life has to offer and that they shouldn't take that for granted. Gandhi sought to practice non-violence and truth in all situations, and advocated that others do the same. He was a dedicated vegetarian, and undertook long fasts as means of both self-purification and political mobilization. He lived life simple but great. Gandhi was far from superficial, as long as he experienced life and did all he could to help human kind and himself he was happy.
He was a lover not a fighter, but he would fight for what he loved.

We've learned to fly the air like birds, we've learned the swim the seas like fish
.... and yet we haven't learned to walk the earth as brothers and sisters.
-Martin Luther King Jr.
The more we figure out about the world, the more curious we get. We discover one thing and finally get an answer, later realizing that our answer only make us ask even more questions. Throughout history people have been asking each other a lot of the same questions, some we have been able to answer, others have made us wonder more. Many say that it is unrealistic for us to figure out the answer to questions like: why we are here, what is the real purpose with life, is there a god, is there life outside of earth, how big is the universe, can we change who we are, what is a good person and how do we become one? Though when we think about all the questions we have answered the last centuries, is it then unrealistic? For now a lot of these questions are personal point of view, you individually chose what you want to believe. Though your environment and the culture you grew up in effects you a lot more than you realize. Everybody knows that a good person is someone who respect others, who is kind and friendly and doesn't ask for anything back. A person with good morals. Well good compared to what? or whom? To other people? To god? or maybe even Jesus? If you compare yourself to others its not that hard to be a good person, we are humans and we make mistakes, but that doesn't mean we don't want to be a good person or isn't a good person sometimes. Though are you really a good person if its only sometimes? If our actions and attitude towards others makes us a good person, are we than bad if we cant stay happy and polite? We all know how hard it can be to keep it up when we are going through something hard in life! Too does this mean that if I do bad actions and have a mean attitude sometimes that I'm a bad person? Becoming or being a good person is not something you can do from one day to the other, a lot of people suddenly decide that they have to change and start to act kindly towards other for some days, though they give up on this fast, you have t realize how much damage you make before you can change this much.
Columbus, Gandhi and Luther are all from very different cultures and time periods, though they share the same goals. They want more out of life, not just for themselves, but for everybody. One was an explorer, who traveled the world to get a better life. The two others were leaders, one thought for his peoples rights and independence, he was a very spiritual person who had come to know himself very well, the other thought for his races rights, he wanted people to be equal to realize one wasn't better than the other. All three men had dreams and plans in life, and they worked hard to make them happen, they realized that before they could help the world, and reflect themselves as good people, they had to figure out who they were and what they wanted with life.
“I can teach anybody how to get what they want out of life. The problem is that I can’t find anybody who can tell me what they want.
– Mark Twain
Know what you want in life, or at least look into what you can get, if you don't know what you are looking for how are you suppose to ever find it? Dreams are impor-
tant they keep us going. If you have ever tried to accomplish a dream then you know the feeling and that you want that feeling back. Therefor you must set new dreams so you have something t work towards. You are living life to its fullest if you are taking the opportunities that you are given and if you for fill your dreams. This poem is just reminding you that without dreams, then there isn't much left.
This is a si-fi book focusing on how we the people today ruined the world because we couldn't control our need for more and better. This led to a epidemic in the metal all around the world, and it collapsed. The government changed the society and reduced the populations. People were limited from freedom. When they would turn sixteen they would go through an operation where they were changed into a perfect person, on top of the physical perfection they got a microchip injected in their brain that controlled them from wanting more and better, This removed all common sense and dreams from them, now all they wanted was a happy party life and good clothing. The main character in uglies realized that she wanted more, and started to sneaking around, she found out that outside of the city there was a million things to accomplish and see. Throughout the book she is fighting against the government only realizing more how they control her. Even though they would give her a perfect life, then she isn't satisfied, she wants more out of life, she wants to live, to explore, be different, try everything, and walk the paths that haven't been walked before.
If today was your last
This song is a good example of that life is over
before you know it, Time goes faster than you think and if you want to do something in life do it today and get it done, cause you never know what tomorrow is gonna be like. A chorus in the song says
"So do whatever it takes
'Cause you can't rewind a moment in this life
Let nothing stand in your way
'Cause the hands of time are never on your side"
If there is a will there is a way, So like they said do whatever it takes, cause it will be worth it,
Hold fast to dreams
For if dreams die
Life is a broken-winged bird
That cannot fly.
Hold fast to dreams
For when dreams go
Life is a barren field
Frozen with snow.

When we read a book, hear a song, or get a story told, we don't always think about the real meaning to it, we notice the beat, or if its a happy ending or not. Though when we are emotional unstable we often really listen to the lyrics. They often tell your their version on what they think a good person is, or even a bad person, but their point of view or experience on how life is or what you get out of life. Uglies tells you how you should fight for what you love, that there is always more to the world that it seems like. That peoples intentions in doing good is often bad, Live life beyond what is given to you go out and get more!
