What is a Work Team?

The action or process of causing a group of people to work together effectively as a team, especially by means of activities and events designed to increase motivation and promote cooperation.
When individuals with a common interest, goal, attitude, need and perception come together, a team is formed.
polite, impersonal, muted, watchful
confrontation, difficulties, no motivation, opting out
getting organized, giving feedback, confronting issues, systems and procedures
closeness, resourceful, flexible, supportive, effective, sharing, tolerant
Cross-functional work groups organized around work processes, that complete an entire piece of work requiring several interdependent tasks, and that have substantial autonomy over the execution of those tasks.

Sometimes, teamwork is not always the answer. Factors that could influence this would be:
Cohesiveness within the group
Number of people in the group
Lack of clarity
Lack of focus
