Transcript of THE HISTORY OF BOUNCY BALLS

Who Invented the Bouncy Ball
The Bouncy Ball was made by Norman Stingley who was a California Chemist.
How Did He Invent It?
Norman was experimenting with rubber in his spare time. He compressed different scraps of synthetic rubber together under about 3500 pounds of pressure per square inch. The result was a compressed rubber ball with a very high bounce.
THE HISTORY OF BOUNCY BALLS

What makes a bouncy ball bounce?

Bouncy balls are made of rubber which has a high flexibility. Materials with higher flexibility can build more and this stretching causes them to bounce higher. Once a ball is dropped, gains force while gravity pulls it toward the ground. Once it hits the ground it flattens out slightly and all the extra force from this stretching pushes it back up.
