A QR Code is a matrix code (bar code) created by Japanese corporation Denso-Wave in 1994. The "QR" stands for "Quick Response" They were initially used for tracking parts in vehicle manufacturing. QR Codes storing URLs, telephone numbers and emails may appear in magazines, on signs, buses, business cards, or just about any physical object. QR Code readers Google android and Nokia symbian have a native bar code scanner iPhone

How can we use QR codes for teaching and learning? -Include QR codes on printed worksheets to allow students to link to further reading online

-Have the students create their own QR codes or submit an assignment as a QR code

-Put QR codes in equipment rooms where they could be scanned adn link to a how-to

-QR codes could appear beside works of art or on plaques in museums http://delivr.com/qr-code-generator What are the downsides? -Not everone knows what they are
-Not everyone owns a camera phone
-Most mobiles do not come with QR reader software installed
