Transcript of Moral Dilemmas

Should the wealthier members of society be obligated to pay taxes to assist those poorer members of society? You run an orphanage and have had a hard time making ends meet. A car dealership offers you a new van worth $15,000 for free if you will falsely report to the government that the dealership donated a van worth $30,000. You really need the van and it will give you an opportunity to make the children happy. Do you agree to take the van? You are shopping and notice a woman stuffing a pair of stockings into her purse. Do you report her? You are waiting with a few other people to get on a bus. The bus pulls up and before you can board the driver gets out and goes into the shop to get a coffee. You are the last to get on the bus. Do you pay your fare? You discover Bill Gate's wallet lying on the street. It contains $1000.00 Do you send it back to him? It is 3 a.m. and you are late getting home. As you approach the intersection you notice that no one is around. Do you drive through the red light? Should the jail sentence of ‘attempted murder’ be that equal of ‘murder’? Imagine you are placed in a room with Adolf Hitler when he is only 3 years old. You have a gun, know exactly what he does during WW2 and will not be charged in any way if you choose to kill him, but at the time he is just an innocent baby, would you kill him? You are playing Poker with a close group of friends and one of them gambles their car and loses to you. Would you let them off? You spot two men running past your house late at night, looking anxiously behind them. You discover the next day that a convicted pedophile was viciously attacked in your neighborhood. Do you report your sighting of the two men to the Police? Which of the following items would you least be able to live without for a year? It's a new year, if you could have just one wish for the year to come true, what would it be? Would you be willing to have your right arm amputated in return for a lump sum of $5,000,000? Developers want to buy your home and demolish it in order to build a research centre in which animal experiments will be conducted. They offer you double the market value, would you sell? Would you give your best friend your work for them to copy from an exam they missed and you passed, knowing that they will fail otherwise, whilst putting yourself at risk of getting caught and your results being disqualified?
