The digestive system
1. The digestive system process starts in the
mouth
. We
chew
our food with our teeth and mix the food with
saliva
1. Mouth
2. Our tongue pushes the food around our mouth
to a tube called
oesophagus
3. The food travels down the oesophagus
to the
stomach
. The stomach is a muscle that
mixes the food. It uses
gastric juices
to turn the food into a thick liguid.

4. The thick liquid travels to a long tube called
small intestine
. The small intestine
breaks down
the food mixture even more. How big is the small intestine?
5. The
liver
and the
pancreas
send juices to the small intestine
so our body can absorb the nutrients
in the food
Pancreas
6. The rest of the food that our body can´t use
go to a wide tube called the
large intestine
Here our body takes the rest of the water from
the food.
7. The remains go through the
rectum
to the
anus

and finally leave our body.
