Transcript of Diabetes

Type 1 Diabetes
-Pancreas can not make insulin
-Destroys the cells in your pancreas
-These cells are called beta cells
-When the cells are destroyed it can't pump insulin to the body

Type 2 Diabetes
-Pancreas does pump insulin but it doesn't do a very good job
-When you find out you have type 2 diabetes you should start treatment quickly
-You should also start a healthy life style , eating right , exercising but you should get your doctors permission first

Gestational
-Gestational diabetes occurs during some pregnancy
-Gestational can some times be related to type 2
-You get high blood sugar
-No one knows for sure how you get gestational diabetes

What is Diabetes?
Diabetes is a disease where the pancreas has a malfunction . The pancreas is a large gland behind the stomach that produces insulin .The different types of diabetes can have different effects on the body. Diabetes is a disease that can harm your body

So basically diabetes is a disease that can make the insulin stop flowing through the body. And there are many different effects like...

type 1 diabetes the insulin cant flow to your body
type 2 the insulin still is there but the insulin doesn't do a very good job
And when this happens you have to start having treatments that may included medication and getting insulin shots

Eat healthy food!

•Unusual thirst

•Extreme hunger

•Unusual weight loss
Type 2 Diabetes
•Any of the type 1 symptoms
•Frequent infections
•Blurred vision
•Cuts/bruises that are slow to heal
•Tingling/numbness in the hands/feet
•Recurring skin, gum, or bladder infections
Signs and Symptoms
-Women have hormones from the placenta help the baby develop
-These hormones also block the action of the mother's insulin in her body
-This problem is called insulin resistance
-Insulin resistance makes it hard for the mother's body to use insulin
- She may need up to three times as much insulin.
How do you get rid of type 2 diabetes

What is Insulin?
Insulin is made from cells called islets. Insulin keeps you health and gives you energy it also breaks down food in your body to make smaller organic compounds. Insulin is made in your pancreas!
