Kids did not have a lot of time to play. They helped with the daily chores, went to school, and learned how to work. They did not have a lot of toys, either. Some parents might import dolls or tea sets for their children from England, but most toys were made from everyday items, such as string, barrel rings, rope, and other items. Both boys and girls are required to attend school. They are taught math, science, reading, writing, social studies, music, math, physical fitness, and sometimes, different languages. Punishments are a lot less strict today, there is no slapping people on the knuckles or bottom. There are many similarities and differences between these two time periods. Some aspects of life have not changed so much, while others have changed a great deal. Nevertheless, we re still a great country!
