Transcript of Alton Brown
Alton Crawford Brown Jr. was born on July 30th, 1962 in Los Angeles, California.
Moved to a small town in Georgia when he was seven.
His father, the publisher and editor of the local newspaper, committed suicide in 1974, and his mother remarried.
Married to DeAnna Brown
Zoey his daughter, born in 1999.
Culinary Training & Education
Originally studied film at the University of Georgia drama department.
Worked as a cinematographer and video director. He was director of photography. He spent all of his time between takes on the set watching cooking shows and he felt he could do a better job
So in 1997, he went to New England Culinary Institute in Vermont.
Alton Brown’s flair in the kitchen developed early with guidance from his mother and grandmother, who nurtured his culinary talent “as a way to get dates” in college.

Alton Brown's signature dish is fried chicken.
Brown is the author of several books including: I'm Just Here for the Food, The Early Years, Good Eats: The Middle Years, Good Eats 3: The Later Years and Feasting on Asphalt.

He is the creator and host of the Food Network television show, Good Eats.
