Carolina Beach Places to visit in North Carolina Grandfather Mountain Kitty Hawk Hillsborough, NC Keep your flip-flops by the bed; when the sun rises, it’s time for glazed doughnuts hot from the fryer at Britt’s, a 70-year-old Carolina Beach boardwalk institution. Get an order to go and head to the Carolina Beach Fishing Center and Marina, where charter captains will take you to the Gulf Stream for deep-sea fishing. After dark, hit the Carolina Beach Boardwalk for arcade games and hot butter fudge. Kick up your heels on a WinnerBoat moonlight dance cruise, all the while floating back to simpler times. Located two miles north of Linville, North Carolina, Grandfather Mountain is a beautiful, natural preserve that allows people of all ages to connect with the magnificence of the outdoors during any time of the year. Known to be the highest peak in the Blue Ridge Mountain range, Grandfather Mountain gets its name from the mysterious face of an old man that is visible from different elevations of the land. Covered with more than 12 miles of hiking trails, native wildlife, picnicking areas, and the popular Mile High Swinging Bridge, tourists have made Grandfather Mountain a famous North Carolina travel destination and Triangle Rent A Car has been helping to bring families to the fun for almost three decades. Located on the Outer Banks of North Carolina, the Town of Kitty Hawk offers year-round residents and visitors alike a unique and relaxing environment. The Town consists of a thriving Village that has been around for generations, a newer beach community of residential cottages, and a maritime forest called Kitty Hawk Woods. The Woods feature a wide variety of plant and animal life. Hillsborough is a beautiful town located in Orange County, North Carolina. Hillsborough is rich with history and small-town charm but is also a progressive community and a wonderful place to call home. Gold Park is a 20-acre park located at 415 Dimmocks Mill Road at the end of South Nash Street. Click here for directions. The park is open daily from 8 a.m. to a half an hour after sunset. The park includes restroom facilities, seven picnic tables, three picnic shelters, a multi-use field, playground, dog park, and extensive natural areas and pedestrian trails. Gold Park includes 0.3 miles of the Riverwalk greenway, and will eventually link to downtown Hillsborough via Riverwalk. Ghost town Located at the top of this mountain, in Maggie Valley, is a mile high fun center with an old west setting. To get to the top you must either ride a chair lift, or a railway tram and this is an adventure in itself. When you go to Ghost Town you can fulfill all your fantasies of visiting a wild west town complete with bank robberies, jail breaks, and gun fights. Visit the Silver Dollar Saloon and watch the Can Can Dancers perform while you eat lunch. Ride the Red Devil (a roller coaster with a complete loop), the Sea Dragon, the Black Widow, and many more daring rides. Visit the Old Mining Shaft and browse through their many shops. Just enjoy a day like no other.
