Transcript of agile innovation

concurrent embedded systems
because of the complex nature of psycho-social systems
it is not clear what political, economic, or scientific paths we must take

when encountering a dislocation with another person
engage deeper/higher to establish shared intention/objective

i am not in a powerful position and though my actions will not result in change alone
the potential sum of all our actions at the collective level is the solution

envrionmental degredation and social disaffection are the consequence of technological acceleration
2020worldpeace: we are all invited... hope you can make it

fluid
come up with solutions, potentials, opportunities
first wow!
unilateral recognition of a good idea
consensus on mutual objective
mostly aspirational and unspecified
genuine excitement at emergence
what can be done by next week?
second wow!
agreement by consensus
commitment to action
establish intention
positive engagement
participants break this unique group to return to their respective positions, whether in a formal structure like a company or not, to mobilise their resources (time, skills, money, networks, materials) in order to achieve the objective
third wow!
the distributed network has enabled a solution to emerge, impossible for an individual to achieve, and hard even for a traditional static structure like a company, charity or formal organisation
if the participants considered a financial dimension, money should be redirected to the individuals since there are no organisational, structural costs
money flow enables the individuals to volunteer their time for other action cycles irrespective of the source of funding eg company; this is the embodiment of the pay-it-forward ethic
the minimal achievement is an interesting engagement with the learning potential of defining goals that are idealistic yet doable, including money-flow, and realising the potential resources available to the unique collection of participants
based on experience, participants increase their trust of their own ability to converge on do-able idealistic tasks and trust other participants unbounded by company ties
members of a company experience the benefit of participating in a distributed network collective like tuttle, and learn to volunteer to assist others using the resources available within the company

fluid economy
iterative learning
because it all comes down to timing, participants learn how to match their ideas with their actions, honing in on ideals that are just beyond the capacity of the individuals to achieve
+
reputation system
funds are distributed fairly dependent on efforts of participants
because there is no contractual obligation, this could be gamed
a reputation system tabulates trustworthiness, cf ebay system
individuals gauge personal effort and value gained by collective
fractional bids distribute funds fairly (default is equal)
potential for multiple dimensional economy, cf espian ecology

it's natural to think these are arranged sequentially in time...
consider this list
rice growing in fields
rice harvested
rice transported internationally
rice packaged nationally
rice distributed to local market
rice sitting on shop shelf
rice bought and brought home
rice sitting on shelf at home
rice cooked
rice eaten
this happens first
this happens last
we can also think about this as cycles
rice growing in fields... then rice harvested.... then rice transported internationally... thenrice packaged nationally... then rice distributed to local market... then rice sitting on shop shelf... then rice bought and brought home... then rice sitting on shelf at home... then rice cooked... then rice eaten

rice harvested
rice growing in fields
we can reorganise this to show
concurrency of cycles
relative to eg my eating rice
detailed cycles, eg harvesting
we may observe:
the timing of these cycles is CRITICAL
current market-structure manages this integration ALONG COLLABORATIVE LINES
the entire system relies on JUST IN TIME protocol
cycles are imaginary
things are always different: rice is replenished
scalability: thousands of local shoppers eating
same level of detail everywhere: comes down to humans eg transporting food
now
perhaps this applies to other behaviours...
or even thinking...
set alarm
hit snooze
grab some breakfast

the alignment or timing of these cycles determines how well we are thinking, acting and how society and culture flows...

don't worry about this relationship

or deepen your insight into your intentions
deepen your insight into their intentions
the larger the system related to
the more parallel these lines:
the more aligned the intention
one's behaviour may be synched with local systems...

governmental policy change

the relative alignment of embedded systems makes this a complex problem (cf physics three body problem)

treating money as a unidimensional entity is a mistake

and as a whole global system, it's clear which one we suffer from most...
though the reason why we can't sort it out is far from clear...

consider the simple harmonic motion as individuals/groups rock back and forth...
and how one's position off-centre perceives the middle ground as oppositional...

we each of us make our decision as to where we are relative to the whole...
and this influences us in our corrective behaviour...

what do you think is the condition of the planet, on the whole?
how realistic do you think it is that we can correct our behaviour as a species?

0. oh!
a person comes up with a good idea or describes a potential event
1. ah! people notice the idea or proposed event and show an interest
if the total number of people showing an interest is greater than a number specified by the originator...
2. o!
they define the idea more concretely
3. k! the people who showed interest are informed and they commit to the idea or event, potentially applying a value, k, of their enthusiasm
and if the sum of k, or enough of certain values of k (eg 8 and above) again specified by the originator, is greater than some value, then the idea is realised or the event comes into being, or money flows
0. oh! coming up with the idea
1. ah! showing interest in an idea

2. o! firming up the idea
3. k! commiting to the idea

it is not so easy to see the simulation of human beings... what are we simulating?
