PRC-M2-CS-2: Basics of HTML
What is a web site?
What makes the web pages work?
What are the
3 things
that
make the the code?
HTML
- content and structure
CSS
- making things look pretty
JavaScript
- moving and changing things
Let's learn some HTML!
With HTML we can build
our own web page!
HTML

is made out of

tags
,
like this:
<p> - opening tag
</p> - closing tag
<br /> - self-closing tag
You can put stuff between
the opening and closing tags,
like this:
<p>Hello!</p>
<p>
Hello
</p>

Opening tag
Closing tag
Content
<p>
- tag is for your text.
For example:
<p>
My name is Dmitri, I am
from Canada. I like teaching
my awesome students.
</p>
<br />
is a self-closing tag.
It can be used like this:
<p>
My name is Dmitri,
<br />
I like candy.
</p>
<br>
- will put the text
on the next
line,
like
this:
