Evaluation: Question 6
InDesign
Photoshop
Powerpoint was a tool I already knew how to use so I had no problem with it. However it was not as effective as programs such as Prezi.
What have you learnt about technologies from the process of constructing this product?
To create my music magazine I have used a number of technologies:
Photoshop
Indesign
Prezi
Powerpoint
Word
Windows Movie Maker
PowToon
Wordpress
Survey Monkey
YouTube
The Planning Process
In the planning process i used the following technologies:
The Production Process
In the production process i used these technologies:
Prezi
Prezi was really simple to use and really effective. It made my evaluation more professional and effective. It was hard to get used to at first but after making one it was simple.
The Evaluation Process
I used Photoshop to edit my images and to place my masthead behind my model. This was done by using the magic wand tool and an eraser.
For the evaluation I used:
Windows Movie Maker was a really difficult program to use as it's a free program with limited tools and quite difficult to do. However it did give me another platform for my planning and when done well was quite effective.
My Music Magazine
My strengths were mainly in the production process. I'm happy with how my magazine turned out and through the process I have learnt how to use InDesign properly. InDesign was hard to get used to at first and my weaknesses were getting used to using this program. However I soon got used to it and it made my magazine look realistic and effective. InDesign allows creators to create a realistic magazine by using spacing, drop capitals, pull quotes and easy lining up tools. The disadvantages of InDesign is that it's a struggle to get used to at first.
I already knew how to use Photoshop, but I developed my skills throughout this project.
I mainly used Photoshop to edit my photographs, but I also used it for my masthead designs and my final masthead. I also used Photoshop to perfect the model's face and get rid of any blemishes, which is a common thing to do for magazine photography.I wanted to ensure that my photography looked realistic and professional, and Photoshop really helped to do this. I manages to correct the colour and pull out the tones to make the photographs overall more effective. I also turned one into black and white to give it more emotional atmosphere for the double page spread.
Before and Afters
Wordpress was really helpful for my whole process to keep track of my work and to keep it all together and organised. It was easy to use and is also a platform that i can use to write on as well as post.
Camera
The camera I used was a Sony A37. This is a high quality camera and helped to make my photography look professional and realistic. I had no problem using the camera as I'm used to camera work and photography,
PowToon
PowToon is an online animated video creating software. This helped add a less serious element to my evaluation as well as making it look effective. This wasn't as easy or as effective as Prezi, but I enjoyed using it.
Overall I have gained the ability to use many different media platforms and have learnt new skills and evolved old ones. Mainly programs such as InDesign and Photoshop came in really helpful and helped me to create a realistic and professional looking product.
