What is Diabetes ? Chronic condition in which the body does not make enough insulin, or the the cells have trouble using the insulin What is insulin ? a hormone produced by the pancreas that helps the boyd use glucose for energy and keeps the blood gluocse in the normal range What is the normal blood gluocse range? The blood glucose range for someone without diabetes is 65 - 95 mg/dl Type 1 Diabetes Most commonly diagnosed in children and young adults. Type 1 diabetics bodies do not produce enough insulin. Type 1 diabetics must take insulin injections to survive Type 2 Diabetes Type 2 diabetes is the most common fomr of diabetes and occus most often in adults. In type 2 diabetes the body either does not produce enough insulin or the cells have trouble using the available insulin. When insulin levels are too low or cells are resistant to the available cells, blood glucose levels beome too high
