1.) The Zagros range is about 990 miles long and more than 150 miles wide.

2.) Situated mostly in what is now Iran, it forms the extreme western of Iranian plateau, though its foothills to the north and west extend into adjacent countries.

3.) The oldest rocks in the Zagros range date to Precambrian time and the Paleozoic Era rocks that date between 541 million and 252 million years ago are found at or near the highest peak.

-Tehran is the capital of Iran.
-Tehran is the largest urban
area of Iran and is ranked 29nth in the world population wise.
-Tehran has a semi-arid climate with a Mediterranean climate precipitation pattern.

Persian Gulf:
-The Persian Gulf covers about 90,000 square miles.
-The Persian Gulf is mostly shallow and therefore has many islands.
-The Persian Gulf was once used as a transportation route but declined along with Mesopotamia.
Caspian Sea
Lut Desert
-The Lut Desert is one of the hottest place on Earth with temperatures that reach 159 degrees Fahrenheit.
-The area is about 51,000 square kilometers.
-In Persian, it literally meant "empty desert"

1.) The Caspian Sea , is located in western Asia on the eastern edges of Europe, is the largest lake on the planet.

2.) History records that it's called a sea because the Romans found it salty ,especially in the southern reaches, and the name stuck

3.) The measured surface area is 371,000 sq km and the maximum depth is at 1025 m
-Iraq has a hot, arid climate with a subtropical influence.
-Mountains make up 20% of Iraq.
-Sand and dust storms can rage in Iraq from 20 to 50 days in Iraq.

1.) Tabriz is the most populated city in the Iranian Azerbaijan, one of the historical capitals of Iran.

2.) Tabriz has a population of 1,549,453

3.) The population consist mostly of Iranian Azerbaijan who speaks Azerbaijan language.
Strait of Hormuz:
-The Strait of Hormuz is very important because of its use for transport of oil.
-20% of the world's oil is transported through the Strait of Hormuz every day.
-Iran and Oman share territorial rights over the Strait of Hormuz.
Lake Urmia:
-Lake Urmia is the largest lake inside Iran.
-Lake Urmia has a surface area of 5,200 kilometers.
-Lake Urmia is growing smaller and smaller each year from the lack of water the rivers bring in.
Sefid River:
-The Sefid River is approximately 670 kilometers long.
-A dam was built on the Sefid River in 1962.
-The river is well known for its quantity of fish, especially the Caspian trout.
1.) Turkey is situated in Anatolia and the Balkans, bordering the Black Sea, between Bulgaria and and Georgia, and bordering the Aegean Sea and the Mediterranean Sea.

2.) Straddling the continents of Europe and Asia, Turkey tries to be a bridge between west and east.

3.)The portion of of Turkey's land in Europe may be small but the country's largest city, Istanbul.
Gulf of Oman
1.) Oman is a 1,000 mile long coastal plain at the southeast tip of the Arabian Peninsula lying on the Arabian Sea and the Gulf of Oman.

2.) It is bordered by the United Arab Emirates, Saudi Arabia, and Yemen.

3.)The country is the size of Kansas
1.) Afghanistan is the landlocked mountainous country located within South Asia and Central Asia

2.) The country is the 41st largest in the world in size

3.) Kabul is the capital and the largest city of Afghanistan
Great Salt Desert
1.)Great Salt Desert is is 4000 sqarare miles

2.) It is a huge basin of interior damage named after the kavirs located there.

3.) The two deserts occupy most of of the central Iranian Plateu
