Definition
Definition- An object at rest stays at rest and an object in motion stays in motion with the same speed and in the same direction unless acted upon by an unbalanced force.

An object in motion stays in motion and an object at rest stays in rest unless acted upon by an outside force.

A spacecraft far from any source of gravity wouldn't need thrust to keep it moving at a constant speed in a given direction. Once set in motion, it will keep moving forever without impulse, since there is no friction in space to slow it down. But in order to change directions or speed, it will require an additional force of thrust.
