Teaching English with Technology
Transcript of Teaching English with Technology
We have to take into account the level of the learners because nowadays English for students is very difficult to pronounced correctly and applying grammar, and when they are motivated they try to search new vocabulary.
VOKI, is an interesting tool which we can use to practice English in our classroom with our students. It is about widget, it is free and you can create a character (avatar) which can talk and move and we can also introduce a text. With the result of this voki we can to insert into a web page, blog, wiki, etc. or send it for e mail.
This tool can help to improve pronunciation, vocabulary and grammar, you can use you own voice or the robot voice. But it depends on the spoken language that you want to practice, and also you can make the difference between the British, American, Australian and Irish accent.
HOW TO APPLY VOKI IN OUR LESSONS?
For example when we are teaching in an elementary level, the topic of PRESENT SIMPLE voki is very useful because you can say to your students to create a personal presentation such as who am I, how old are you, where do you live, what do you like to do in your free time, etc. In that way we as teachers can facilitate the way to learn in a didactic manner.

Voki is an educational tool that allows users to create their very own talking character. Voki is created by Oddcast and is located in New York City.
Voki characters can be customized to look like historical figures, cartoons, animals, and even yourself! Give your Voki a voice by recording with a microphone, using our dial-in number, or uploading an audio file. Voki characters can be emailed, shared on social media, and embedded on websites!
