How does your school/program teach digital literacy to its students, staff, and teachers? When I say digital literacy, I mean the following:
- How to pull information from disparate sources and synthesize it into a new thought/idea
- How to critically evaluate an information source
- How to develop personal learning networks (trusted sources of news, reporting, twitter followers, opinion blogs, social networks, etc)
Best Practices:
- How does your school/program promote and develop a suite of best practices in technology use and implementation in curriculum.
- How do you share ideas for what's working and what's not.
- How are best-practices disseminated throughout all levels of the school; teachers, staff, students.

Wrap Up Final thoughts...
I have mixed feelings after my interviews.

On the positive side, it seems that interest in technology integration in education remains strong and innovative despite the barriers of funding and school politics and economics.

On the negative side, the realities of funding and budget limitations are very real and difficult to overcome. Also, the lack of proven standards seems to mean that various states and school districts have to use up valuable time, energy, and funding re-inventing many of the same steps, over and over again. Undoubtedly, opportunities exist for a nationally recognized, proven, set of technology integration models.

Overall, I feel optimistic about the future of technology in education. While it may not end up looking like the 1-2-1 programs we have been studying, I think that the inevitable advancement of technology in our lives will mean that technology must become an increasingly relevant aspect of eduction...if only by pure inertia from over-arching societal mores.

It is people like Dave Zukor that make me most hopeful; tirelessly and enthusiastically advocating for a disparate array of technology, trying new things, embracing what works in “the trenches” of the classroom, while always staying open to what is coming, what is new and innovative, what is effective and maintaing a reflective introspection about what it all means and where we all are going together.
